Planning To Paint Your Teenager's Room? 3 Types Of Painting Supplies You Will Need

If your teenager is ready for a change in their room now that they are older, painting the room is a good place to get started. If you have never painted a room before but plan to do it on your own, there are many paint supplies you will need. Below are three of these supplies so your teenager's room will look beautiful when you finish.

Paint Brushes

You will find different types of paint brushes when you go shopping. Two common types are synthetic and natural bristle brushes. Synthetic brushes are made of polyester or nylon or may be made with a combination of the two. They work well for both latex and oil paint.

Natural bristle brushes are made with animal hair and hog hair is often used. These brushes work well if you are using an alkyd or oil-based paint.  Purchase a high-quality paint brush because having better bristles will give you a much smoother finish on the walls. If you are purchasing a natural-bristle brush, the ends should be split on the tips. A good synthetic brush has fuzzy tips.

A brush that is approximately four inches will work well. Purchase small brushes to paint the trim and around the corners.

Paint Rollers

If you plan to use a paint roller, as with paint brushes, you can find natural or synthetic rollers.  If you choose natural, the hair is usually lambs wool or mohair.  You can find rollers in varying lengths. If you are painting a smooth surface, a shorter length would work well, but if the surface is rough, you should purchase a longer roller.

Look for rollers that have beveled edges as this will give you a smooth finish. The roller should also have no seams. To ensure it is high quality, squeeze the roller. If it does not immediately rebound back to the original shape then it is low quality.

Paint Trays

If you are using a roller to paint your teenager's bedroom, you must have a paint tray. You can find them in a variety of sizes. Make sure you choose a try that the paint roller will fit in. You can find paint trays that have hooks. This allows you to attach the tray to a ladder. This is beneficial if you think you will ever paint the exterior of your home.

Paint trays are easy to wash and they are durable. If you want to make things easier, you can find disposable tray liners. These liners are generally made of plastic. If you do not want to purchase one, you can use aluminum foil as a liner.

If you start painting and find that you do not think you will do a good job, you should contact a professional like Ontech Associated Group Inc. to paint the room for you.
